Droplets of You
by Mathilde Barge
In the hot condensation,
The hardest is
Breathing out bubbles of thoughts.
Forcing an exhale
Evanescent emotions overflowing.
The hardest is
Scrapping the corners of pictures,
Reaching for bits in shallow crevices
Already imprinted in my mind.
The hardest is,
Lying still
As droplets of you
Escape down my cheeks
Flowing down the drain
The hardest is,
Picking at my scars,
Feeling the holes beneath the surface
In the flesh of fleeting imagery
Drying the pearls on my back,
The hardest is,
Surrendering to the warm embrace
Fabric taunting my exposed heart,
Trying to let you go.
